Whether you’re crunchy or smooth, peanut butter will always be a hit with your dog! But did you know that not all peanut butter is safe for dogs to eat? Ingredients to Avoid:

1. Xylitol aka. Birch Sugar:
This ingredient is safe for humans to eat, but it is poisonous for dogs. Keep an eye out and avoid this product if you see it on any ingredient labels, as it is commonly added to peanut butter.

2. Added sugar:
Peanuts already contain sugar, so any extra added during manufacture isn’t necessary. Your dog can eat sugar, but the same as us humans, excess sugar can cause health issues down the line. Avoid added sugar as, let’s face it, your dog will eat peanut butter without it and still love every second!

3. Added salt:
Peanuts are naturally high in salt, so any added salt is a no from me! Your dog can eat salt, but it’s best to avoid large quantities as it will affect your dogs health in the long run - the same as us humans.

4. Palm oil:
Palm oil is safe for your dog to eat, however, it isn’t a sustainable ingredient. Palm oil production is one of the leading factors of deforestation for some of the worlds quickly depleting rainforests and, in turn, the destruction of habitats for some of the worlds most endangered animals.
