Our top 6 healthy(ish) treats to spoil your dog this Autumn

Everyone loves a little treat from time to time, especially the human here at the Wild Bear Club! When stocking up on supplies, I’m always looking for the healthiest options to help herd the bears and reward good choices while we’re out and about. Here’s a lovely list of low-fat treats packed with natural ingredients and free from artificial additives to help you with training, increasing enrichment for your four-legged family member, or just to have around for when you can’t resist their cute little mischievous face.

Disclaimer: This post has not been sponsored by the pumpkin industry 🤭 No, but seriously, this post is totally unsponsored - these just happen to be treats that I really love, and I know your pup will too! Check ‘em out below.

Buddy:
Grass-Fed Ostrich Bites

These are a sure-fire hit among the wild bears. So much so, Reggie decided to grab the empty bag off the side while I wasn’t looking and then proceeded to lick the inside of the packet clean. Silly me for not keeping an eye out, but very much a sign that these are soooo tasty, the dogs just can’t get enough - even if it is just crumbs at the bottom of the bag!

These treats are easy to break up into smaller training bites and they have a fantastic list of ingredients to keep your pup happy and healthy.

Ingredients:
Ostrich (30%), Yellow Peas (30%), Vegetable Starch (14%), Hydrolysed Poultry Protein (14%), Collagen (5%), Chicken Liver Gravy (5%), Blackberries (1%), Salmon Oil (1%)

Price:
I found these at Pets Corner for £5.99, or you can pick them up from a few other retailers including Just for Pets who are selling these at £5.49 per 200g pouch

Yakers:
Long Lasting Yak Milk Chew

Yakers are great for teething puppies and dogs who love to chew - these treats will keep your dog occupied for hours and provide some great enrichment. They come in a variety of flavours, and whichever you decide I’m sure your dog is going to love it!

Ingredients:
These chews go by a lot of different brand names but they’re usually all made by the same company (just with different packaging). If you’re unsure if they’re genuine, double check the ingredients, which should be listed as: Skimmed Yak & Cow milk, Lime Juice, Salt. The lime juice and salt are added in small quantities to help solidify the milk, which is then compressed into blocks and smoke dried for 28 days to give the chews their unique smoky flavour. Read the full story of how Yakers are made here (opens in new tab) - companies who are transparent about their ingredients and production process are our favourite kinda companies!

Price:
Pets at Home and Jollyes stock most sizes & flavours starting from £2.99 with the option for multi-buy savings at both stores at the moment. If you don’t have a Pets at Home or Jollyes near you, then you can grab these online or from most pet shops across the UK
